Nanjizal Neon

Looking for structured light forms and colours to embody the emotional reality I feel in the landscape. I really connected with the landscape in the years of the Covid lockdown.

Nanjizal is a neon sculpture came from swimming off the beach at Nanjizal Cove in West Cornwall in November looking up at the granite cliffs stacked against the relentless power of the waves.

The feeling was of verticality and fluidity, a language between what appears permanent and what is changeable. The colours and forms were beautiful and exhilarating.

My mind articulates the emotion in a language that gives voice to light.

It is strange to translate the sky, sea and rock into light but in the moment the experience of the landscape is totally luminous.
