Curves neon

Curves is a light sculpture made of a series of intense coloured half moon shaped neon tubes arranged back to back in a vertical geometric pattern. I look for pure light forms to make visible my experience of the landscape. The colours of sea, sky, granite and gorse, in the light of the moon and sun are the inspiration for this light sculpture. West Cornwall where I live has a special quality of light. When the rain has washed the air that blows in straight from the Atlantic and the sun is reflected between the clear clean sky and sea there is a clarity and brilliance of light and colour that is breathtaking. Within the chaotic beauty of the universe we create structure and coherence. For me making light sculpture is an act of imagination and a way to embody in structured luminous form the emotional intensity I feel in the Cornish landscape.
